I just shot the video for my first single "Break Me"!
The concept for the video really defines who I am-a genuine blend of two different worlds or cultures. The idea is that you see me in this "Bollywood" world, all dressed up in my Bollywood-style clothes with my Bollywood backup dancers, etc, and then you see me in my "club" world, in my club clothes with my club dancers. At the end, the two worlds collide, and, if I may be so bold as to speak in third person for a second, "Tina Sugandh" is defined! It's also symbolic in many other aspects. For example, it symbolizes the fact that Bollywood is beginning to make a major breakthrough in America. Did you guys see that "Bollywood" was an official category of style on the Fox show "So You Think You Can Dance?" It's amazing! There is also a Cheetah Girls movie that was shot in India, and is about the girls going totally Bollywood, singing in hindi and meshing with South Asian culture. Don't forget "The Love Guru" either, and many, many more examples...ok, ok, back to the video shoot...
So I'm not going to tell you exactly how I go back-and-forth between both worlds in the video. I have to leave you with some element of surprise, since I already gave away the whole concept. I have included some pics and behind-the scenes(see below) footage as well! I love the way the video was shot, and am so excited to see the final edit!
Overall, it was a truly amazing day. I was running on just two hours of sleep (due to over-excitement). Because we had to shoot three choreography-filled segments in just one day, there wasn't time for any of us to lose focus-even for a minute. Everyone on set really came through. They all worked their tails off, and I was incredibly grateful to be surrounded by people so ambitious, dedicated, focused, and talented.
